Lightweight aluminum cylinder heads were standard equipment on the top of the line L88 Corvette engine. They were also available as an individual option on top of the L71 engine.
This option was available from 1967-1969 under the option code L89.
L89 Corvette for 1967
I discussed this aluminum head option in my 2017 annual issue of Corvette Legends, my softbound supplemental magazine. My magazine was released at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, MCACN, in 2017. I also mailed it out to many of my customers who purchased a copy of my hardbound book. Corvette Racing Legends, the story of the L88 option package.
L88 Corvette and L89 Corvette for 1967
I also discussed some horsepower ratings in this issue along with my previous issue from 2016 regarding the L72 Corvette engine option. This was all printed several years ago in my publications.
Well apparently, now in 2023, someone has decided to take some of my intellectual property and he or she is reprinting it claiming that it’s their own. I am not being given credit for this information. This L89 Corvette information was personally given to me from a retired engineer.
I am currently preparing my sequel to Corvette Racing Legends and it will contain an enormous amount of information that was not possible to print in my original hardbound book. My second hardbound book will not only review my 1967 L89 Corvette technical information, but it will also include L89 technical information from 1968 and 1969.
So when you want to real and complete truth about Corvette high performance, you can get it from my books.
I currently do not have an exact release date for my second book, but keep visiting this site for more up to date information regarding its availability.
